However, nothing beats Asian-in-California dim sum. My last time at a dim sum restaurant was when I introduced a couple of my friends to it in OKC. The morning of my last day, we all went to grab some dim sum. In true Asian family fashion, we planned this trip around food. Since most of the neighborhood is Vietnamese/Chinese-American, people around here are used to the flash and thundering pops of firecrackers around midnight. The scene at midnight is unlike any other. In a way, it makes staying up with my family all the more special. So, this meant that I could never stay up until midnight on Lunar New Year. Funny story about that, I used to skate competitively, and I had to wake up at 5 a.m. I rang in the new Lunar New Year with my family at my aunt and uncle’s home. I drank my favorite sugarcane drink from the food court.
